What Goes Into a Metal Roof Order

A complete metal roof order is more complex than just panels. Every metal roof installation requires: panels (cut to rafter length), ridge cap (covers the peak), gable/rake trim (seals the gable ends), eave trim (seals the bottom edge), foam closure strips (seal the corrugated profile at eave and ridge), fasteners (hex-head metal screws with neoprene washers), and underlayment. Missing any of these items means a second supplier trip mid-installation.

Panel Types UIR Installs

  • Corrugated 26" (2.5" corrugation): Classic agricultural look. 26" total width, 26" cover width. Common on pole barns, sheds, and residential installations looking for a traditional metal roof appearance.
  • R-panel / PBR 36": 36" cover width with a 3" high rib. Very common on residential and commercial buildings in Grayson County. Clean look, excellent weather resistance.
  • Standing seam 12–16": Premium residential and commercial. Clips attach to structure — no exposed fasteners. Longest-lasting metal roofing option. Higher material cost but exceptional durability and superior wind resistance.

Closures: Why They Matter

Foam closure strips seal the space between the corrugated panel profile and the trim or ridge cap. Without them, insects, water-driven rain, and conditioned air pass freely through the corrugation peaks. Eave closures go under the first panel course at the eave line; ridge closures go on both sides of the ridge cap. Both are sold by the linear foot and come in profile-specific shapes — you need the closure that matches your panel's corrugation pattern.

UIR's Metal Roofing Work

UIR has installed metal roofing throughout Grayson County, Leitchfield, and the Nolin Lake and Rough River Lake areas. We install standing-seam, corrugated, and R-panel systems on residential homes, barns, and commercial buildings. For storm damage replacements where the old shingle roof failed, a metal replacement is often the best long-term investment — one installation that lasts the life of the building.
